Claims Adjuster Trainee | Progressive Insurance | Scranton, PA

The Claims Adjuster has the responsibility to investigate vehicle accidents. Tasks include taking statements from drivers, passengers and witnesses; researching police reports, inspecting and estimating damages to vehicles, investigation of the accident site to determine the accuracy of statements, evaluating bodily injury cases and authorizing treatment, determining liability and negotiating the settlement for the claim. Claims work is unpredictable and the workload or pace can vary dramatically from one day to another. Claims work deals with conflict management and can be stressful. The Claims Adjuster spends significant time out of the office, in the local area. A company car is provided for all fieldwork. This position requires the ability to work overtime. Your five-day shift may include one weekend day, depending on the needs of the branch. For example, Tuesday through Saturday. These positions are available due to corporate growth.

The training for this position is extensive and includes two visits, each two weeks in length, to one of our national training centers located in Tampa, Phoenix or Cleveland. All expenses are paid for training.

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree OR;

A minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience and/or postsecondary education required. Relevant experience includes work as a claims adjuster, a property damage adjuster, or repair work within an automobile repair and/or body shop;

OR work experience in a position that developed or required the ability to think critically, solve complex problems, plan and organize activities, serve customers, negotiate, effectively communicate verbally and in writing, and embrace new challenges.

Demonstrated job stability.
Computer skills.
Current drivers license with a clean driving record.
